Job Description
Welder
Maintain plant equipment and facilities to meet operating requirements and objectives. Welding jobs include actual equipment and machinery and/or new pieces of equipment and structures needed for the normal operation of the plant. Performs all types of mechanical jobs throughout the plant during regular operations schedule and mechanical maintenance.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities: Perform welding and cutting assignments such as fabrication of plant equipment and structures, and repair of worn process equipment according to plant standards.
Welding jobs include: Perform welding using electric, acetylene, and/or arc-air equipment, evaluate and coordinate welding needs and repairs, identify and select necessary metal and equipment including mechanical equipment, make and use sketches and drawings, perform pipefitting work requiring welded joints or connections, perform steel structural work on buildings, perform maintenance modifications, cut and layout work, and assist and perform emergency repairs throughout the plant.
Maintenance work includes: Performing necessary repairs to welding equipment, and inspecting malfunctions. Assist other maintenance personnel during repairs. Maintain necessary maintenance records, and prevent damage to machinery, equipment, tools, and materials.
Perform maintenance mechanic assignments on plant equipment and facilities.
Collect data for preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects.
Perform millwright assignments such as bearing replacement, alignment of equipment, and inspection and repair of power transmission according to plant standards.
Inspect lubrication for mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required, drain oil, and change oil and filters on all equipment oil reservoirs.
Perform pipefitter assignments to install, maintain, and inspect existing and future piping structures on all types of piping systems.
Operate mobile equipment to assist with completing maintenance assigned duties.
Perform plumbing inspection and repair on plant equipment and facilities.
Qualifications: Prior plant maintenance mechanic experience required.
Physical Requirements Long periods of standing and/or walking required.
Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures.
May be indoor or outdoor work.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
Must be able to perform all job functions, including, but not limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
Must wear protective equipment while on the job.
Travel and Special Assignments (Post-Hire) Note: Travel and work at heights will only be required after full-time employment by the client. Temporary employees will not be required to travel or work at heights during their assignment.
After full-time hire, the employee may need to travel out of town and stay overnight. Travel costs will be covered by the company. This is not expected to be often and is typically only a night or 2, within Florida.
